Can you tell us about the process of making your work?
This specific work is made over 6 months. because of the many layers and the drying time, this work really was a practice in patience, but incredible interesting to create.
How would you define your work in a few words (ideally in 3 words)?
Dealing with unknown phenomena.
Would you use another three different words to describe the ‘Transcendental moment’ painting?
Mysterious, magnetic, frustrating.
How did you come up with this painting idea? Is there any story behind this painting?
I wanted to create a flat object that collapsed into itself and simulated a transcendental moment.
Is there any particular message that you wish your viewers can take from this painting?
I create art about what I find interesting, it is more a message to myself, here I reflect about parallel realms and my urge to convey the feeling of not knowing.
What colour is used the most in this painting?
Whites.
What would be the best way to exhibit your work?
This work is intended to be a strong contrast to my other works, so it will be best displayed in that context.
Can you mention any artists you, lately or generally, take inspiration from?
I look at a lot of different artist but one that catch my eye in the moment is Richard Aldrich.
How do you know when this painting was finished?
To know when a painting is finished is a bodily sensation, its a very clear feeling. It is a dialogue, the work simply tells me when its done and I can sense it in my body.
What about the place where you work? What’s your studio space look like?
This work is made at The Glasgow School of Art in a very tiny studio space. A little corner with a lovely plastic table.
What does your mum think about your art?
My mom likes what I do, most of the time. She is a good support.
Which exhibition did you visit last?
I saw Michael Kvium at Nils Stark Gallery in Copenhagen.
Which are your plans for the near future?
I am working on two proposals for future shows, a dialogue book with Philosopher Morten Bøje Stensgaard Larsen and an interview with ARTODAY.
